Just quickly, because I promised I’d write non-bloggy, real things tonight.
Also, K is in a show called Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy with a (Somewhat) Happy Ending by Wendy Weiner. It’s pretty damn funny, doesn’t cost much ($10), and is a warm place to go for an evening of entertainment. While all the actors were good I was even more impressed with K than usual. Maybe it’s just been awhile since I’ve seen her acting, or maybe it was the wide array of characters she got to play (Greek chorus, Eleanor Roosevelt, Monica Lewinsky), but she was definitely in top form.
Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy with a (Somewhat) Happy Ending is the story of gods, godesses, and politics. As former friends Athena and Aphrodite feud in the heavens Hillary Rodham grows up in the United States. Ambitious and clever little Hillary knows she wants far more than what’s set out before her. So she turns to Athena for guidance, inadvertently insulting her nemesis. As Hillary grows and is shaped into a capable protégé for the goddess of war and wisdom Aphrodite takes her revenge by sending in an agent of her own; a man with his sites on the White House, Bill Clinton.
I’m pretty sure that most people know how all that went down, but adding in Greek mythology and creative staging the story is spun fresh for the audience with just enough deviation to keep them on their toes.
I’m definitely going again and if you’re in the Cleveland area you should go too. It’s at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and runs through December 11th.
